Thanks for the update, so yeah see? It is reasonable as far as MMO costs go.

If you compare the features of CitiesXL and features of most MMO's it is not worth the money. CitiesXL can barely be called an MMO (A chat screen and trading).

I will agree with you there as well. Although there is more they could do with the game, I suppose what more can you expect from a city builder game. Well, alot more I guess, lol. But that being said you are right, it's a common joke to call the game Chatties XL, an AOL Sim that happens to have a city builder application on the backend.

I have been playing Sim City since the original version way back in the 80's .. I have always loved these games! I have actually purchased every single version that has come out... well, except Societies, which I played for a couple hours and hated!

The idea of an 'online version' really fascinated me! ... It is the reason I got Cities XL! ... Sure, it's lacking some pretty major things for a city builder, but it is only recently released too... I will give them time (6-12 months) before I completely give up.... And I pretty much ignore the chat at all times... The trading resources idea is great! While dealing with other users whims is not so great... But, the one online feature that I love is the ability to look at other player's cities! I used to have to trade snapshots with friends! And that was just no fun!!

As for the cost... I hadn't heard the news about the price change. But even still, $7 a month isn't that bad... We spend something on the order of $75 a month on WoW accounts in our household... And thats one game alone .. Throw in all the other games we play, and geeze, I really don't want to think about it

That has been my experiences as well. I remember when I got my first copy of Sim City as a Xmas Gift from my mom's boss. It was such an awesome game and I too loved everything they made up until now. Except for Societies, omg .. that was such a peice of work What were they thinking? Oh yeah it was EA, they want to milk stuff to death. But I do wonder what Sim City 5 will be like one day.

As far as Cities XL, if you ignore the chat log you ignore half the game, lol. Although it seems I can rarely get a trade deal to happen in chat anyways so it is mostly just for show. In fact, if I can't find a way to offload some of the mass piles of resources I have in my cities, I can't even log into them. And with uber lag setting in within 10 mins of login, I barely have the patience to play anymore. I would like to try the buses out if someone on Prosporo wants to get some good deals on resources, heh.

Well, my take on CiitesXL is I maybe going to solo when my Planet sub runs out 25 January. I can no longer handle logging in every single day to make sure my cities aren't gonna go belly up because of the ridiculously short 5 day trade deal with my other cities. Also what its says in trade at the planet screen and what the city actually has or doesn't have is totally wrong, reported the bug (with screenshots no less) and MC says there is nothing wrong. And updating trade deals is painfully slow.
You can send an hour fixing up just 20 more less 100's

I don't think I will stay much in local mode for long as its boring with nothing to aspire to (but at least trade deals are permanent, until you cancel them), there is no auto-pause and has a time speed-up.

It comes to $16 a month here (was $6 a month when you could pay for 3 months)
