Are there anybody else having problems conecting?
I'm finding it very hard to join caliban planet in the evenings it seems,So before I purchase another month i need to know if others are having the same issue?

I gave up trying to connect after 1PM (Paris time) of any time 1PM-8PM, but this may be my ISP (would be 1AM here and that when all the leeches start up the PtP downloads)

Most other times its ok.

The lag is overwhelming for the servers sometimes. And the size of my cities makes it so painful to play...

I've only had issues connecting one night.,, There was a period of about an hour where I kept getting disconnected, then failing to reconnect... If memory serves, there was a patch that night, and my final connection included the download, after which things went back to normal and not had any problems since.

The trading utility however is another story... It is so slow to refresh the data from the server, and refreshes way too much. I can't hardly do anything without it popping up the thing telling me it's connecting with the server.. then I have to wait and wait... This area certainly needs some help.

I hear you there, and yeah patches will bring the server to a fault sometimes. But for the most part compared to other MMO's the servers remain up much more than most, but then again, the lag factor doesn't help much.
