I will have a look through and add some info to my profile, but I'm fairly selective with these things for privacy reasons - I get enough spam already!

The link was to a post I made on another forum rather than a site of my own, but it lays out my best guess of city service cost effectiveness (there's a discussion following it as some assumptions had to be made), but I thought it could be a good start.

Right on, I totally here you there. One thing I have been debating on was making ALL profiles private unless you log in, and perhaps even moreso make it where only your friends can read you profile? I know I can do it globally, but I can't remember if there is a way to do it in your profile as well. But would you see if you can try to make it private to only your friends? And if that does not work, I might put ALOT of thought into making it globally private. I know Facebook on the news was just talking about how they were concerned about this sort of thing. Damn robots But if you think that might help make this stie more usefully to you, let me know, I bend the will of the site to meet the needs of the users And I can understand how privacy would be an issue at the same time you want to thave the convenience of all the links.

I had a look last night and couldn't find any profile privacy options.

I think it's fairly simple though - if you lock the ability to view profiles down to members only, then people know their details aren't being shared with the whole web.

After that, they have a choice - it is good that you provide people with an automatic option to share their details - some will choose to and some will choose not to.

Whilst I was happy so share some stuff, I wasn't happy about other things, so my profile reflects that.

There's nothing personal there - I've been a member of many fora over the years and I generally share the minimum of personal data, but the maximum of info about likes, dislikes etc. There's only three forua where I ever shared e.g. facebook details and that was via private messages rather than anything public.
