There isn't much here at the moment but we are ready to answer your questions about CitiesXL.

Gamerphate has been on the CitiesXL Top Ten for quite awhile and knows how to build big city.

I'm more of a 'nuts and bolts' type.

There is no fully 'offline' mode to the game. You need to 'login' so your system checks for updates. You can then play 'locally' by choosing the 'Play Solo Mode'.
(You also need to create your avatar)

This does not cost anything extra. The only thing that costs extra is the 'Planet' Option. But you must remain connected to play in "Local Solo Mode"

Hope this clears it up..

Cheers

Howdy!

I've been playing for a few days now, and been doing pretty good if I do say so myself! ... My city has just broached the 250k pop mark YAY! .. Then the trouble started .....

I could go into the whole long story about how I tried to move my polluting industrial, and manufacturing zones out of town, and ended up with ubber high unemployment, and available jobs across the board simultaneously... And how my population doesn't seem to want to travel to the new locale ... but I won't bore you...

My question relates to freeways... No matter what I try I simply cannot get connections made. The pieces won't align right, or I get 'ground error' when trying to place interchanges. And trying to 'flatten ground' created an even bigger mess. Not to mention the 'Simple interchange' doesn't seem to want to connect to anything (On the non-freeway side)...

Can someone give me some tips on how to put these blasted things in? .. Maybe a guide? Or a video? .. Anything at all would be of great help!

Thanks, the help is greatly appreciated!

The worry is that it doesn't matter where on the map you start or move air polluters (Heavy Industrial(HI), Manufacturing (Manuf), Waste, Power Plants. Oil fields) sooner or later (usually around 800K Population) the Air pollution covers the entire map. If you want a clean and green city you have to 'import' the polluters from another one of your cities or from the market.

Freeways attach to a special piece of road (usually the first peice next to the 'large luxurious avenue') you may have to click the picture to the left to expand it out. I think its called a 'highway'. There is another piece that attached a Large Avenue to a Freeway. I use these once and found multiple large avenues work better.

Since I haven't use them much I can't, IF GAMERPHATE EVER DECIDES to show his face here again maybe he can do something.

Cheers

Sorry about that, I was delayed in getting new hardwar to help work on the site and help with adding content so I wasn't able to see this post till now.

But putting highways down is VERY hard, but there are some tricks to it. One thing is to place the highway end peices first (like on/off ramps and then conntect the highway and then the avenue to the highway.

One thing that will stop you from making this work is terrain! You must have completely even terrain, one tiny bump can ruin a large area of unused space, so you have to keep that in mind. Make sure its flat, open, and not block by water or the edge of the map.

I might actually do a video now that you mention it just to show how it is done. But for me, the MC team pretty much let me get to the end of the game, and I found the guy behind the curtain, so now I am just waiting for them to add something more for me to do in teh game, otherwise I would be taking advantage of the subscription money I already forked over ;/

But also I wanted to say excellent work on getting some activity onto the cities xl section I will keep tabs on the forums a bit more while I am multi-tasking the various projects in the works.

So, Post and ye shall be answered.
